The Hillsdale County Community Foundation is proud to celebrate 30 years in this community.
Our Story
Thirty years ago, a group of community members had a vision for our community – for something that would impact the lives of residents in Hillsdale County – these leaders came together to talk about the possibility of spearheading the formation of a foundation. After months of meeting, with the help of the Simpson Foundation, the Hillsdale County Community Foundation was established and these individuals became known as the first Board of Trustees.
Timeline
Since 1991, the Foundation has grown to $24.5 Million, thanks to careful investing, amazing donors and the leadership of our Board of Trustees.
Over the course of 30 years, HCCF has been a vital asset in this community, dedicated to making Hillsdale County a better place to work and live. The grants and scholarships awarded have impacted many lives in amazing ways. And with the power of endowed funds, we know HCCF will continue to make an impact for many years to come.
Impact
Millions of dollars have been poured into the community over the past 30 years in the form of grants, scholarships and donor designated funding. As of today, HCCF has provided $9,982,245.15 in grants to our community and $3,531,270.55 in scholarships to local students and residents pursuing their dreams of higher education. We have established and maintained 330 funds that continue to make an impact in our community each year. But we know our work is not about the dollars and numbers. It’s about the impact it is having on our community.
As we celebrate our 30 years in this community, we are able to look back and reflect on the work that has been done. We have provided financial support to community projects and supported educational programs outside the classroom. We have funded school trips, purchased equipment and supplies for area music and arts programming and brought awareness to issues such as poverty, drug use and the importance of mental health. We have assisted our area food pantries, have supported our local nonprofits, and have led our Youth Advisory Council to meet the needs of youth in Hillsdale County.
