The power of giving together…

In 50 years, 972 billion is expected to pass from one generation to the next in Michigan. In just 10 years, 140.6 billion will have transferred.

National research projects a $53 trillion transfer of wealth across the United States. But while the average transfer nationwide will peak after 50 years, wealth transfer in many Michigan counties will crest in twenty to thirty years. In Hillsdale County, the greatest wealth transfer will likely begin to occur in the year 2025.

Much of this wealth is currently invested in family homes and farms, retirement accounts and other appreciated assets – some of which may be heavily taxed if given to heirs.

*There is no need to modify your estate plan.

Community Giving Program

The Hillsdale County Community Foundation is proud to sponsor this community giving program, designed to benefit nonprofit agencies in Hillsdale County. The goal of “Give Where You Live” is to meet the needs of our area nonprofits and offer local residents a financially secure and convenient means to contribute to the causes you care about most.

The goal of Give Where You Live is to provide support for local agencies by receiving and administering funds designated specifically for local nonprofits and their programs. HCCF has the infrastructure and experience to allow for several giving options for donors. Contributors can choose to utilize payroll deduction through an employer, pledges, and one-time donations to support any of several designated local agencies.

Designated contributions for local organizations will be distributed directly to the agencies on a quarterly basis, to ensure that donations can be put to use in a timely manner and when needed most. The Foundation is also offering donors the option of contributing to an unmet community needs fund and also to an unrestricted fund, which will aid agencies through an application and allocation process.
