The Hillsdale County Community Foundation is reminding area nonprofits, educational and governmental institutions of the deadline for YOUTH grant applications for the upcoming grant cycle. All YOUTH grant applications are due in the HCCF office by 4 pm on April 3rd. The HCCF YOUTH are interested in funding projects that will improve the quality of life for the young people of Hillsdale County. Eligible projects generally fall within these categories: education, fine arts, social services, community development, recreation, environmental issues, health and wellness, and improvement in the physical, mental, and moral conditions of Hillsdale County young people.

The YOUTH have an ongoing survey program for studying the assets, needs and concerns of the young people of Hillsdale County, and they regularly identify areas of opportunity that guide decision-making regarding grants. A copy of these survey results is available at the Foundation office, and online at www.abouthccf.org. The HCCF website also features links to the YOUTH grant policy and application forms, as well as guidelines for requests for school trips.

The YOUTH welcome grant applications from the Hillsdale County area or outside Hillsdale County if the youth to be served reside within Hillsdale County. Applicants must be tax exempt according to Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, an educational institution, or a governmental unit. The application must be filled out by the youth of the applying organization, with the only exception being a project involving very young children. Please contact HCCF for exception authorization.

The April 3rd deadline applies only to applications for the Kellogg Youth Advisory Fund for youth-related grants; general grant requests for the HCCF Community Investment Fund are due by 4 pm May 1st. YOUTH grant applications will not be accepted after April 3rd, regardless of postmark date. Faxed or emailed applications will not be considered.
